FAA fækkar starfsmönnum í New York TRACON á sama tíma og umferð eykst

DOT ASKED TO INTERVENE AT N.Y. TRACON…

Animosity is worsening at the New York Terminal Radar Approach Control

(TRACON), and now N.Y. Sen. Charles Schumer has called on

Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta to intervene, citing fears that

the dispute between the FAA and the National Air Traffic Controllers

Association (NATCA) could become a threat to safety. “The bottom line

is, errors are increasing [a point the FAA disputes], air traffic is

increasing and staff numbers are steadily decreasing; in my book this

could be a recipe for disaster,” Schumer said last Thursday. “This is

not about pointing fingers, it’s about finding solutions.”

ATH! Hefur einhver áhuga á að starfa í Slóveníu?

Slovenia is looking for 3 ATCOS with either ACC/APP RDR or at least one RDR and one PROC licence, and 2 ATCOS with TWR/APP rating for work in Ljubljana ACC and Maribor TWR/APP.

Contract will be signed for 3 years, with posibility of extention.

Average ACC RDR sallary is arround 2000 euros

There is no housing provided, but SLOATCA and the Union will help in solving this by advicing and finiding suitable apartment.

Interviews are expected to take place in mid april.

Fréttir af ástandinu í Belgíu

Little update:

All BELGOCONTROL staff (Controllers, engineers, technicians and administrative) went on strike last thursday for 2 hours to express disagreement on the human resources management of the company.

We forced thereby our CEO to reconsider the way social dialogue goes on and negociations with the unions will start from friday 18/03.

I know we are not the only one who face problems at this time, a lot of distrust has been accumulated these last years by the ATM community in Europe. Our movement locally was really to show them that everyone has reached the limits of what could be tolerated.

One additional word of gratitude towards Maastricht staff who suffered considerable additional stress level during our action.

Sumartímabilið stendur frá föstudegi 13. maí til föstudags 16. september. Sótt er um eina viku sem aðalval og 3 vikur til vara.

Verð fyrir hverja viku er kr. 15.000,- í Gullhvammi og kr. 12.000,- í Aðalbóli.

Úthlutunarvika hefst á föstudegi kl.1600 og lýkur næsta föstudag á eftir kl.1500.

Við úthlutun er fyrst farið eftir punktastöðu viðkomandi en síðan eftir starfsaldri ef punktastaðan er jöfn.

Hægt verður að skoða punktastöðuna á heimasíðu félagsins innan nokkurra daga. Póstur verður sendur á félagsmenn þegar punktastaðan er kominn upp.

Vegna tæknilegra vandamála hefur ekki verið hægt að opna fyrir umsóknir vegna dvalar í orlofshúsum FÍF sumarið 2005. Opnað verður fyrir umsóknir um helgina og verður það tilkynnt með pósti sem sendur verður á póstlistann.

Fréttir frá kollegum í Belgíu – social unrest and possible actions in Belgium

The social climate has dramatically deteriorated last weeks in our company BELGOCONTROL. Our management currently doesn’t respect previous engagements included in a collective convention between social partners. Additionnaly the unions have released a motion of distrust towards the BELGOCONTROL top management due to the breach of social dialogue.

Most of the social tension comes from other personnel categories but belgian atco’s have opted for full support to the 3 representative unions if it would come to actions.

Consequently, an industrial action prenotification (2 weeks pre-notice) has been released by the 3 unions.

In the meantime, considering the very high level of distrust towards management, the unions have declared to be supportive of any spontaneous action that would be initiated by any personnel category.

In the event of such a spontaneous action, we would like to ask for the understanding of European colleagues who would be affected in their daily work as a consequence of these actions.
