Háskaleg lending í Írak! – tekið af www.avweb.com en þar má lesa ýmsar flugfréttir

        THIS LANDING WAS THE PITS
Accidents happen, but it certainly appears that something went off the
USAF paper trail to cause an accident like this. First, we can’t
confirm exactly what happened here (and we’d love to hear from anyone
who can) but based on the number of sources from which we obtained
these photos and text, it sure looks like somebody removed a section
of runway in Iraq and didn’t inform the people who might expect to use
it. The C-130 was landing on the night of Dec. 29 (it may have been a
special-forces plane) when it hit the pit and instantly became a
runway hazard itself. No one was killed but there were several
injuries and the plane is a goner. Those of you with PowerPoint will
want to see it with your own eyes.

Air Ground Communication Safety – könnun á vegum Eurocontrol

        vefstjori | 2. janúar, 2005 | 14:14

The survey is part of a project that the National Aerospace Laboratory NLR in the Netherlands carries out on behalf of EUROCONTROL in the framework of the EUROCONTROL Air – Ground Communication Safety Initiative.

The objective of this survey is to identify lessons learned, suggestions and potential safety recommendations in the area of air-ground communication problems between controllers and pilots. The survey on the air-ground communication safety is currently running and available at the ‘Air-Ground Communication Safety’ web site:

          http://www.nlr.nl/public/hosted-sites/A2Gcom/survey.html

The web site also provides a short introduction on the purpose of the study, the organisation of the survey and the respondent’s anonymity. After submitting the survey via the Internet it will be sent automatically to the NLR researchers.

At this moment the majority of the respondents are pilots (about 80% pilots-20% controllers). We think that it is necessary and important to get a balanced view on the air-ground communication issues, which means that we wish to increase the portion of controllers’ responses.

We would really appreciate it if you could help us.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

          With kind regards,

          Rombout Wever [wever@nlr.nl]
